Mirabai? I LOVE it, but I can't get my husband on board.
So I've wanted to adopt children(likely two girls and a boy) for as long as I can remember, and I've always had two girl names that I have LOVED, but no one I know has shared my love.
Desdemona Margaret(NN Mona or Maggie) AND Ophelia Marilyn(NN Lia).
No one in my life likes either of these first names and say I'd be condemning my kids to lives of being mocked like I was(It wasn't TOO bad, but I'm a Georgia so I have songs to hate), but I am a Shakespeare FIEND and I adore both names so so so much.
I can't use Mona as the name for the first one, because Margaret as a middle is NOT negotiable(Margaret and Marilyn are my gran and my mom) and Mona Marilyn sounds equally weird. I think they both flow really nicely as they are, but I'm not awful and I would hate to give my kids names they would hate, but I legit find these both beautiful and stunning and can't find a way to change them and keep the spirit.
IDK, like, dislike, ideas?

Here's round 4! There was a tie between Heath and River which led to some rearranging at the end. Enjoy!

Some interesting notices from recent Toronto Star birth announcements (surnames excluded) and my opinions:
Aryana Alia
Bronwyn Victoria and Charlotte Thea (twins, and fairly classy at that)
Carys Lynn
Carys Mary Katherine
Christian Begin
Christina Margaret Helena Rose (because two middles names just weren't enough)
Ella Aimee (DON'T SPELL KREATIYVVELY)
Evangeline Renee (I hope she looks like a supermodel)
Julian Bonaventura (...I'm serious)
Justin Robert Duke
Kian Motavaze (some kind of ethnic)
Lachlan Jersey Bernard
Mason Cooper and Madison Sierra (twins, and I don't think the parents realize that they aren't being original)
Mason Newton (if there ever was a yupster name, this is it)
Xander James Robert (hipster parents hide the nod to family in the middle names)
Zachary Wolf

Thanks to everyone who replied to my Lily post now I have a new question!
I've tried asking for name suggestions before but not quite as simply so people didnt really answer my question last time (not the post about lily, but a diff post) so I figured I'd try again:
Me and my SO tend to like shorter names. Prob. because my own name is really short (Tara). and my SO is named Steve on his birth certificate and so he likes that its not short for anything offical. He isn't a Stephen or Steven who just goes by Steve, he is JUST Steve.
So basically the only 2 boys names that BOTH of us like are Leo and James. Just Leo, not Leonardo or Leonard or anything because we dont like either of the full names. And James's sorta nickname would be Jamie if we called him anything else besides James.
I would like some suggestions for other boy names that you think kinda fit with those 2, or the style of james/leo. They don't have to be really short though.
As a side note, I also like the name Jude and Nikolai for a boy.
For girls I/we like: Tessa/Tess and Avery, I like Athena, Scarlet, Juliet and Audrey as well.
Thanks for any suggestions you can make! :)

WDYT about the name Porter? It's an old name which makes me like it (my history professor husband informed me that some dude in the Civil War was Porter so-and-so), but it sounds trendy which makes me not like it.
Also, a friend of mine had a baby on Christmas Day and named him Julian George. I like it. Her husband's English so it's quite fitting.

I'm sure this has been done a hundred times, but I was bored this evening and decided to make a list of the names I'd choose were I in the Duggar's position. I'm aware they now have 19 kids, but I went with 18 so I could halve it more easily. It was hard.
WDYT?
( make your own! )
OK, so here I am now at the 32 weeks pregnant stage, but feel like I'm 38 weeks!!!.
I want to know, is it OK for you to make love during late pregnancy? I have heard quite a few opinions - yes and no etc.
During my last 2 pregnancies I had sex twice a week right up until the birth, with no problems. It was a bit uncomfortable at times, due to the ever growing bump, but once we figured out positions it was fine. In this pregnancy I've not done it as much, but I'm starting to get the feeling I really want to do it (as does my husband), but I'm not sure as it is such a large bump and baby - we have tried once but found it more difficult than the other times.
Apart from the baby having a massive kicking session afterwards, what positions are comfortable in late pregnancy (whilst supporting a very big bump?). It's starting to drive me crazy as I want to show my husband how much I appreciate and love him.

How do you feel about the name Lily?
Posted via LiveJournal.app.
I've noticed it seems to be a trend here to really dislike popular names and it's not the typical 'well, I like it but since it's so popular I would avoid using it at this time' but, with the exception of made up/misspelled names I just don't get it when people go 'Madison/Sarah/Emma sucks! It's in the top 10 HELLO! I'd pick any name but that' or something along those lines but more sugar coated or something. So what say you, do you honestly rule out a name on the hate list because it's popular or simply sigh and hope by the time you have a child the trend dies down?
( names I like that are in the top 10 )

First a question!
What are your favourite Irish names, male or female?
My fathers family is full of Irish names, but they're mostly very common (often anglicized) ones - Sean, Deirdre, Caitlyn, Erin, Patrick, etc. And it's a tradition I'd like (eventually) to carry on, however I don't want to reuse any of our names and I'd like to find less common onces, here are a few I like so far:
Female:
Liadan
Eavan
Lile
Male:
Finn (or maybe its original spelling Fionn)
Eoin
Declan (suggested by the boy, whose family is also very irish)
Kiernan (another of his suggestions)
Riordan
Secondly, a few names, WDYT?
-Sibling Set (cousins daughters)
Grace (3)
Sophia Berkeley (infant)
Grace is a family name, I kind of hate the name Berkeley but I suspect it may be a surname from my cousin's husbands family.
-Sibling Set (girl i went to high school with):
Mylie (2)
Ava Lynn (infant)
-Sibling Set (another cousins babies):
Andrea (5)
Ervin Jr (1 year)
I'm not big on any of those names, Grace is probably my favourite even though I usually dislike the Joy, Faith, Hope, etc type names. After that Sophia or Ava I suppose. Poor Mylie, right?
